There is something about scooters that set them apart from other modes of transport. Motorcycles are much bulkier and therefore much more expensive to produce. Although capable of greater speeds, properly modified scooters can reach upwards of 45mph! And with <50cc engine sizes, these scooters are not restricted vehicles that require a license.
Then on the other end of the chain is skateboards, blades, etc. While fun in short bursts, they require constant work and are too small to affix a powerful engine. Them high-tops with tiny wheels in them ain't really the best option for commuting. However, most of our scooters fold down to make hauling them around much easier. It's all about striking a balance. And Seatown Scooters is balanced like a Formula One racing engine!
